Sheriffs Office

To protect the lives and property of the citizens of this county by providing the best, most professional law enforcement services attainable.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is the second largest sheriff's office in Iowa. We employ 186 full-time employees; 120 of which are sworn.  In addition, we “employ” a reserve deputy sheriff force of 31 members who volunteer their time to the community.  For FY15, our budget is $19.8 million.

We are a full service law enforcement agency that operates seven areas of public service, including the Patrol, Criminal (detective), Communications, General Services, Finance, Civil, and Correctional Center Divisions
