The Linn County Sheriff's Office is the second largest sheriff's office in Iowa. We employ 186 full-time employees; 120 of which are sworn. In addition, we “employ” a reserve deputy sheriff force of 31 members who volunteer their time to the community. For FY15, our budget is $19.8 million.
We are a full service law enforcement agency that operates seven areas of public service, including the Patrol, Criminal (detective), Communications, General Services, Finance, Civil, and Correctional Center Divisions
In an effort to encourage qualified applicants, we are hosting two orientation sessions at our office, located at 310 2nd Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids. The orientations will focus on the Deputy Sheriff application and testing process. In addition, an overview of the Sheriff’s Office and possible career advancement opportunities for perspective deputy sheriff candidates will also be discussed.
The orientation sessions will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM and Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 6:00 PM. The sessions should last no more than two hours each.
