Latest Update:

November 20, 2018 8:21 PM

Due to a change in the forecasted temperatures, the pavement markings will now be painted on Friday (23rd) and Saturday (24th). The specifications require the paint to be applied with the air temperature and surface temperature to be at least 40 degrees. Tomorrow's high temperature will not get above 40 degrees as originally thought. I apologize again for another delay, but it will result in a better final product.

Please contact me with any questions. Thank you for your cooperation.

The contractor is currently preparing the south side of Shellsburg Road for paving. They expect to start paving on Wednesday (26th) at the earliest. They hope to have Shellsburg Road open to two way traffic the week of October 8-12.

As a reminder, when you are stopped at the temporary traffic signals please do not block the Creek Ridge Drive intersection (by the fire station).

We've got a lot of rain in September which is not conducive to road construction, especially when we have the subgrade tore up and dirt is exposed. We appreciate your patience and the contractor is working hard to keep the project moving forward.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation!

I have received several questions regarding the traffic signals recently installed on Shellsburg Road and I wanted to share my answers with everyone.

We chose to keep Shellsburg Road open to traffic throughout the project because there is not a practical detour. We will not detour traffic from a paved road onto a rock road, nor will we detour traffic through a residential subdivision. Both of these scenarios create unsafe conditions. Therefore, Shellsburg Road will remain open. The downfall is that traffic delays will occur. We allowed the contractor to set them up Friday so traffic would notice them on their afternoon commute and would have the weekend to plan for an alternate route or adjust their schedule as needed. This was done rather than installing them Monday morning and causing everyone to be late for work.

I have been notified that traffic is getting backed up. We will review the timing of the cycles and adjust them as needed. We will review how the signals work this afternoon through the peak commute time before making final adjustments. So please be patient over the next day while we adjust the signals to function more efficiently.

I hope this clarifies any questions you may have had. Let me know if you still have questions. Thank you.
