Linn County is one of nine partners in the East Central Region (ECR) which provides mental health and disability services to eastern Iowans. This partnership allows individuals access to a regional base of services to address their needs. The nine counties pool their resources together to provide a core set of services to help improve the health of Iowans.

Core Functions

Linn County and the East Central Region help clients with the following:

  • Completing and processing applications for services
  • Processing monthly Cedar Rapids bus passes
  • Providing information and answering questions about available regional services
  • Managing client caseloads pertaining to rent, transportation, lifeline and transitional housing

Mental illnesses are very common. One in five adults lives with a mental illness.

Mental illnesses do not discriminate. They could affect you, your sibling, parent, grandparent, friend, neighbor or coworker. They affect teachers, doctors, parents, lawyers, business owners and students. They affect many aspects of a person’s life, including work, school, home and relationships. Sometimes people with mental illnesses are labeled as being lazy or having low motivation. People living with mental illnesses can and do recover with access to treatment, services and supports. The Warm Line is a peer run, telephone based, non-crisis, confidential, listening line for anyone struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues. The Warm Line is staffed by people who have been through a similar journey and are in recovery themselves.
