Schedule Jail Time

Due to COVID-19, effective Tuesday, March 23, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office will be closed to the public, but we will continue to conduct business during our normal business hours via telephone, email and our website.

To schedule a jail surrender date, make payments or setup a payment plan for court fines or room & board, please contact our Finance Division via telephone at 319-892-6232. Court fines and room & board can also be paid online.

Pursuant to Linn County court orders, anyone ordered to schedule time in the Linn County Correctional Center must present themself in person to the Sheriff’s Office Finance Division (310 2nd Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, IA). This must occur within 15 calendar days of the court order and it is essential they have a valid government identification card. Scheduling time will not be done over the phone. Failure to schedule within 15 days of the court order will result in a warrant. Any court order outside of Linn County will require contact with the Correctional Center at 319 892-6300 for review.

Upon conviction of a crime, and pursuant to state law, persons sentenced to serve time in the Linn County Correctional Center are required to pay $60.00 per day.

Monthly Room and Board payments can be made online (minimum $50), automatic debit/credit (minimum $25), or pay in person at the Sheriff’s Office. We accept cash, money order, Mastercard, Visa, and Discover Cards.

If you missed your scheduled surrender date, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. To resolve this, you can turn yourself in immediately and begin serving your court ordered sentence or contact your attorney. You will not be able to reschedule your sentence once a warrant has been issued without an amended court order.

If you cannot surrender at your scheduled time, you must report to the Sheriff’s Office Financial Division in person prior to your schedule date (310 2nd Avenue SW; Cedar Rapids, IA). In rare cases, the scheduled date or time can be amended, but will require a 48-hour notice.

Visit the Correctional Center for information related to serving time (location, allowable items to bring, visitation, telephone hours, commissary account, family emergency, etc.).
