Due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the country and locally, Linn County has closed most buildings to the public to help reduce community spread of the virus and to help ensure continuity of County services.
Sexually transmitted diseases [STD] (also known as sexually transmitted infections [STI]) are a serious issue that if left untreated, may lead to serious outcomes such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, cancer, increased pain and inflammation, loss of vision or hearing, or death. The most commonly contracted STDs in the United States are Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Human Papillomavirus [HPV], and Trichomoniasis. A majority of STDs are spread through direct sexual contact, and occur among individuals 15 to 24 years of age. For additional information about the connection between age and STD infection see the CDC's, Sexually Transmitted Infections Among Young Americans.
