In-Person Voting

Would you like to vote before election day and not through the mail? Voting at the Linn County Election Services Office is a convenient way to participate in any Linn County Election and to mark it off on your to do list.

You may cast an absentee ballot in person at the Election Services' Office before any election. It is on the second floor of the Jean Oxley Public Service Center located at 935 2nd Street SW in Cedar Rapids.

You must vote your absentee ballot in the office. You cannot take the ballot home with you.

An accessible ballot marking device is available in the office for voters who may need assistance.

For primary and general elections, absentee ballots will be available no earlier than 40 days at the county auditors' offices.

For all other elections, ballots will be available as soon as they are ready.

In-person absentee voting is not available on election day at the Election Services' Office unless the polls open at noon.

If the polls open at noon, you may cast an absentee ballot at the Election Services'Office from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on election day.

It is not uncommon for large lines on the day before a major election and wait times may be up to an hour. It is best to plan ahead when considering voting at the office during the last week of a major election.
